Belfast Christmas lights go up (fashionably early)

PS: If you're hitting this page trying to find out when Belfast City Council are actually going to switch on their festive illuminations ... Zöe Salmon is booked to throw the switch on the evening of Tuesday 20th November (with Shayne Ward crooning in the background). The exact time is 6.30pm according to the Council booklet shoved through our letterbox to be announced when they drag the tree into position on Monday 12th November.

PPS: And in keeping with their early hanging, some of the lights were turned on early for a quick preview and test ahead of the main switch on.

PPPS: And even better than X-factor's Shayne Ward, the choir of Strandtown Primary School will be entertaining the expected crowds.

At lunchtime today, I noticed that Belfast Council had started the long process of putting up the lights and decorations for Christmas. A mere two and half months early. And while the Clinton card shop (the one at the front right) is still selling Halloween clobber.
