Stafford Carson ... goes online with a blog

Stafford Carson became Moderator-elect of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland back in February, when each presbytery in Ireland met for their annual vote. He doesn't get sworn in until General Assembly meets in early June, but in the meantime, he's started a blog, together with a rationale for why a minister should blog.

It'll be interesting to see whether this will be the year of the blogging moderator, and whether the denomination will eventually host a moderatorial blog on presbyterianireland.org, one that rolls over from one moderator to the next as the years go by?

Clip from Stafford Carson's blog

In the meantime, Stafford is posting away on one designed by a local Richhill web design company Red Rhino. If I'm being pernickety, it has a quirk on the About tab which gives Stafford's bio in the third person ... always a sign that someone else set up a site!

Not really designed by them, they took a Wordpress theme, removed the original creators name from the footer and dropped in a new image at the top.

@supersimbo - there are quite a few blogging - can think of more than a handful across 3+ denonimations.

@anonymous coward - "designed" may have to extend to take in buying the domain name and getting the hosting sorted!

I welcome Stafford Carson's blog initiative - hopefully the PCI will take his lead and front up to the people instead of taking to the hills (ala PMS debacle).

It will be interesting if the blue pen of censorship will be employed to only permit agreeable posts.

@Anonymous(April6) ... maybe he'd be wise to disallow anonymous commenting :) Every blog author is free to choose the rules of engagement for their blog.

He is even free to remove his own blog on the subject of plagiarism. Maybe his past has come back to haunt him.

He never did get round to putting that series on the church web.

Well, he's no longer the blogging pastor - but he could be known as the blogging Principal (of Union).

Fahrenheit451 - could be - but isn't that still at the rumour stage!

He told his Session last night. I think he has a few hoops to jump through but the job is his.
